“Then the singing enveloped me. It was furry and resonant, coming from everyone's very heart. There was no sense of performance or judgment, only that the music was breath and food.”
― Anne Lamott, Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith

Scripture readings: Song of Songs 2:8-13 & James 1:17-27

Guest Preacher: Mr. Sean Raghailligh, M. Div.

Ephesians 6: 14-20 (TIB)

Stand fast then, with truth as the belt around your waist, justice as your breastplate,  and zeal to spread the Good news of peace as your footgear. In all circumstances, hold faith up before you as your shield; it will help you extinguish the fiery darts of the evil one.  Put on the helmet of salvation, and carry the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. Always pray in the spirit, with all your prayers and petitions. Pray constantly and attentively for all God’s holy people. Pray also for me, that God will open my mouth and put words on my lips, that i may boldly make known the mystery of the Good news—that mystery For which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that i may have courage to proclaim it as I ought. I would like you to have news of me and of what i am doing. My dear coworker, Tychicus, a loyal minister in Christ, will tell you everything.  I am sending him to you precisely for this purpose—to reassure you and give you news of us.  May God our Creator and our savior Jesus Christ bring peace, love and faith to all our sisters and brothers.  May grace and eternal life be with all who love our savior Jesus Christ.

Second reading:  Joshua 24: 1-2a, 14-18 (The Inclusive Bible)

“Anybody can become angry — that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way — that is not within everybody's power and is not easy.”

Aristotle

The Bread of Life

“The point of church isn't to get people to come to church." "No?" said Steve, cocking an eyebrow. "What is it?" It seemed obvious to me. "to feed them, so they can go out and, you know, be Jesus." – Sara Miles, Take This Bread; A Radical Conversion

“Imperialism and exploitation,” he wrote, “spheres of influence, trade barriers, unequal distribution of the world's goods, starvation in the midst of plenty, slums with gold coasts next door, poverty supporting luxury: These are marks of an unChristian world.”
― Sara Miles, Take This Bread

Scripture readings: Ephesians 4:1-16 & John 6:24-35
